"hi, my vp151 engine pushes water out of the heat exchanger filler cap at high revs (3000).It is not over filled and i have tried a new cap,The water is not getting into the engine oil and the engine is not running hot, poss head gasket??.also on my other engine it runs hot at high revs,i have taken off the oil cooler and only 5 holes were clear would this have been the cause for o/heating."

"It seems to me that your first engine either has a defective tank cap or it has a gas leak into the cooling system, probably due to a defective head gasket.

Regarding your other engine, a plugged-up oil cooler or exhaust manifold will restrict raw water circulation and the engine will overheat. The only way to find out if the plugged tubes were the problem is to take the boat for a run after you have cleared them."

"Hi I have a vp260A that has water leaking from the seal behind the pump/impella housing from the shaft that runs from the harmonic balancer only when I turn it off, is this because its sucking air under load? how hard is it to pull the pulley off and replace the seal and bearing? do the housings often corrode out and turn into dramas?"

"No biggie. There are either three Allen bolts or three studs with nuts attaching the pump to the harmonic ballancer and one bracket attaching the pump to the block. Remove bolts/studs 18 or 18A (depending on model) and screws 23 and 24 and off comes the pump (you still have to remove clamps 15 and 30 to pull the suction and delivery hoses). Renew seals, bearing and impeller and put the pump back together in reverse way.

Thre is more than one type of pump that fits your engine. Don't know if the one in the following link is yours, but it will give you an idea. You can usually get the impeller, seals etc from Sierra, and the bearing is just a sealed unit that you can get virtually anywhere by using the original as a sample.
