"In my opinion, the first thing you need to make sure is that thre is enough water circulation. If the hose connector is perforated, there will be air ingress in the raw water system, so this is where I would start (replace if its condition looks even questionable, they are not expensive). Afterwards, I would check that the raw water pump impeller is in good condition and that the raw water strainer is clear. Then, I would examine the water passages in the exhaust manifold to make sure they are not clogged. If they are, your best bet may be replacing the exhaust manifold.

Since it seem you don't know the condition of the boat, I would recommend that you do all the above."

I went outside for a min. to just look at some of the hoses.. and on the outside of the boat loking at the motor. thier is the 3 hoses on the outside. if you start at the bottom and go up to the top hose.. it is the biggest hose on the outside.. it has 3 big holes on the bottom of it would that be some of my problem or no.

"Are you talking about a "

"Are you talking about a "hose" or a "bellows"? If it is a bellows, then you are likely talking about the drive bellows; and if it is perforated, I'm afraid you have a big problem. That bellows protects the u-joints from water, and if water has entered the sealed area you will have to replace the u-joints, and also dismantle the engine to remove the bellhousing and replace its seals and bearing.

Could you upload a picture?"

I am not sure if it got in the

I am not sure if it got in their. The boat has not been in the water 2 1/2 years. the guy before me had it for 2 years and wa sredoning the boat. he never put in the water just put the ears on it.and the lady that had it before him only had it in the water spring of 2005 then her husband dead and sold it.to change that hose it is like a flex rubber hose on the top. I will have to take the propelleer part on the engine off or is their anther way. also in the boat on the passanger side of the engine their is a hose goes from the boat wer the water comes in and gose to the front of the engine and to the coolant .(black tank with screen in it). one more thing i took the plug out under the manfold and with the coolant in the should coolant come out of that hole.thanks

"If you are going to do the jo

"If you are going to do the job by yourself, I suggest you get a copy of the Seloc manual for your engine and drive; that will make things easier for you. You can also try to download an outdrive manual from this link:

http://www.mybayliner.co.uk/boatmad/280285290.pdf

I seem to remember that the exhaust manifold normally has a drain plug at the side. Yes, there should be water coming out of the hole when you remove the plug, there unless it is choked inside with rust/mud/scale."

That is very helpful. thanks.I

That is very helpful. thanks. Is thier a manual like that for the engine.so if their is coolant in the system when you take that plug out the coolant will come out of the mainfold.I guess now i just need to get started.thanks for all the info.. I will be writing back soon. will you check on that engin manual.. all the ones i see are not english. thanks
