volvo gear whine

I don't know if this is true or not but i was told that Volvo switched to a straight cut gear in its drive which results in the gear whine. does any know it this is true. My original 07 DPS-a drive did not have a gear whine. Volvo changed that drive because the paint came off the drive. the replacement drive had the gear whine. Volvo even replaced that drive with a drive they assembled in engineering to see if they could quite the drive with different shimming. still the same loud gear whine.

if the gears were changed it must have been after my original drive was manufactured. would like to track down the original gears so i can get rid of the noise.

any input would be appreciated
