"There are no sensors that would shut down the engine on the AQ131. I don't want to sound alarmist, but I would first make sure that the overheating has not damged the engine. You may consider doing a compression test to make sure the head gasket is not blown and that there is no damage done to pistons/cylinder walls/rings. You may also want to check the condition of the engine oil; specifically, look for water and metal particles.

Another possibility is that the engine may have sucked water when it stopped, then when attempted to start the timeing belt could have jumped one or several teeth in the timing gears. In that case, the valve timing would be off and the engine would not be able to start."
