Hi all, After leaving the dock, 5mins out , my engine totally quit. Ran for 65 mins under test prior to sea trial. (Bayliner 28 Explorer 1980)
Inspected under the hatch and found water in #3 clyinder and also coming through the intake manifold via the single Carb. Anyone have any experience and pointers for me would be very much appreciated.

Thanks CJ

No idea how the intake has water but the manifold is probably the problem for the #3 Loosen the manifold bellows and check for rust/corrosion/clogs at the end of the manifold. You will need to loosen the manifold too.Remove the manifold and somehow hook a hose to it.It should flow as much water in as the hose can supply.

They rust and fall apart from the inside. They look great and can be full of rust and holes.

Hi J, Thanks but replaced Exhaust Manifold a month ago. Saw a thread three days ago saying if Timing belt had jumped a tooth could cause Exhaust Valves to act like inlet and suck raw water into cylinders As she shut down, I assume that water transferred to the inlet side.Have stripped inlet manifold (water in Port) and pulled the timing belt(it is very worn) I have only run for less than 50hrs should be replaced at 500hrs. I think I inherited this from former owner.CJ
