When I rappidly accerate my AQ

When I rappidly accerate my AQ125 (not in gear) the engine coughs to the point it backfires out the carb (sometimes it will even die). If I accelerate slowly it comes up to high RPMs fine. In ideas what is going on?

"Actually, I think that a "pinhole" in the rubber would never give you these symptoms; at the most, it would leak. However, a seized rod or lever would prevent the accelerator pump from retracting, so the carb would be unable to squirt any gas during acceleration.
