Volvo 81 high tickover

2006 gi8.1 ticks over at 1500r

2006 gi8.1 ticks over at 1500rpm. cable is slack nothing in the intake and the idle valve keeps opening fully. giving 1500rpm. if i close the idle valve n install with the unit disconnected the tick over remains at 600. no fault codes. any one any ideas?

Low grade fuel and poor motor oil quality could make the engine have a "tick" while under load over 1500rpm!! I start with simple things then move to the more complex problems. Could also be a "slow" or "stuck" valve somewhere?? Just rule out possibilities 1 at a time. Good Luck
