"I have recently replaced my 5.7 OMC engine with a 1998 5.7 GSI Volvo engine coupled to the original 1988 OMC Cobra leg. I cannot get the shift assist to work with the Volvo ignition system, both the original and replacement units have burn out (replacement was a CDI unit No. 123-9898P). Have spoken to the Volvo tech guys who are concerned that the module may damage the engine ECU. Any idea's on another way to reduce engine power during shifting."
