Volvo 57 gxi overheat problem

i've got twin GXI motors

i've got twin GXI motors in my boat.when coming off of plane the starboard engine temp rises to about 180 or slightly more which sets off the overheat alarm. i can run the engine at idle all day as well as at 3800 -4000 rpm all day and the temp is right on the money right around 160 - 170. is anybody aware of any service bulletins concerning software or sensor problems? i replaced the impellor and thermostat which did not change a thing.
 
How old are the risers and man

How old are the risers and manifold? If it's more than 3 yrs IMO i would give them a look. What year is the motor? Fresh or salt water cooled? Had the same problem several years back and it was the risers
 
"the boat is an 03 with 70 hrs

"the boat is an 03 with 70 hrs on it. removed risers from manifold and all was immaculate, no scale at all. the engine is raw water cooled"
