Hey y'all, I'm looking at buying a very nicely cared for older boat with the Volvo 430 V6/SP-C drive combo.
The boat seems to run well and the drive works, but as a preventative measure I'd like to replace the driveshaft support bearing the bellhousing before the season kicks off.
I've done a fair bit of work on outboards but this would be my first i/o boat.
I see there's conflicting info on whether this is an engine out service or not. Obviously I'd prefer it to not be. Can I simply remove the top half of the drive and replace the support bearing from the outside assuming I have proper tools?
