I have a Volvo 4.3 with an SX
I have a Volvo 4.3 with an SX outdrive in a 19.5 FT open bow ski boat. When I first start the motor it seems to have a miss. After a few min. the miss goes away and seems to idle fine. The boat does plane but does not appear to have much start up or top end. I have a new tach and it is only reading at 3400 RPM with a 19 pitch prop. I had a local mobile boat mechanic come by and water test the boat and he seemed happy that it got up on plane and he felt like the tach on the dash was incorrect and that the motor sounded like it was turning around 4000 RPM's (he also tested the cylinder compression and said the motor was like new). However I am new to the boat and I had to put a another motor in it - so I do not know how it use to perform - but right now I believe something is not right. I had 4 good size adults and two kids on the boat today and do not believe I could have pulled someone sking.
Any suggestions?
