I am in the middle of doing a complete rebuild of my 290A dp. I am currently on the lower unit, all new bearings and gear set. I would like some opinions on the gear set wear pattern. Is this satisfactory for a new gear set (see image)? After calculating all shims and then assembling, I had to adjust shims, backlash and preload accordingly. So this wear pattern image of the aft gear is the 2nd go around, the forward gear wear pattern looks identical. And currently backlash and preload are all within spec.
