"Hi, This is my first post here and I have to say that I have been reading these posts for a while now and find them most enlightening.

I have a small problem - I am trying to remove the lift assembly on a 280 outdrive. I have removed the two allen bolts that secure it the main outdrive and according to the Seloc manual it should "just pull clear" well mine does not, it is fixed solid. Should I apply heat or what. As a point of reference the reverse latch mechanism was seized solid with barnicles but I have since freed this up and it it working fine. I could check the end of the worm drive to see if it is seized if I could see where it meets the outdrive but cannot find the point of contact.

Any help suggestions would be greatly received

"Wow, thanks El for the the quick reply. Will it harm it if I use a set of Stilson or Mole grips the barrel/tube as it is so solid that I cannot move by hand alone ?

Try to grab the flange instead

Try to grab the flange instead; or try to rotate it with the help of hammer and a long drive pin punch placed in one on the flange holes.
