volvo 280 leg lower unit drain plug

Hi I have a volvo 280 leg I have been trying to remove oil drain, plug with no success,even used an impact driver ,with caution of course.Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Could I use heat?

Yes.... hand held impact driver ONLY, and with the correct tip ONLY.

Try applying some heat to the immediate area around the drain plug..... small Mapp or Propane torch.
NO Oxy-Acetylene unless you know what you're doing!

Hi Rick,thanks for tip I have tried asmall cooks blowtorch but was very sparing with it.I will try again I had to scrape around the filler bolt to clear salt build up and have been spraying it regulary.Thae only redeeming feature is on removing the dipstick the oil looks as clean as a whistle.Had major trouble removing the prop so I think maintenance leaved a lot to be desired.Hopefully worth it in the end Thanks again Regards Roger
