"I have a question about installing a replacement raw water pump in a 1985 Volvo Penta 2002 Diesel.

The old pump was leaking and so I decided to bite the bullet and replace the whole pump (I also ordered new pipe seals and o-ring)

Question- The Copper pipes (In and Out) of the pump appear to just "push" into the pump housing, with a rubber sealing ring on the pipe...no clamps, threaded fitting, or other stuff.

I can't see how this would be watertight - is there some sealant or liquid gasket I should apply when re-installing the copper pipes to the pump ?

Also - any tricks/tips to the removal/reassembly (eg: is getting the pipes lined a chinese puzzle ?)

Thanks for any info - I searched quite a bit before posting, and could not find this discussed anywhere."
