looked up wireing picture of voltage regulator can not find on motor where it should be mine does not have power tilt ruing over 17 volts thanks rob

the rectifier should be a round thing about the size of a quarter mounted on the side of the block....probably the left hand side as viewed from inside the boat....this is a known problem with high voltage out of that regulator with modern batteries....you should not run a maintenance free or a gel battery with that engine....the fix is to replace the rectifier with a regulator...maybe someone will jump in with the part number for it as i dont have it....the rectifier will eventually fail and the first indication will be a cutting up tach along with the voltage reading....the problem will also occur with a normal battery if it is rated too high for that engine.....the good marine battery from auto store for instance....you may get away for a while by increasing load on the battery...running lights or a 12v cooler for example..
