Velvet Transmission Shear Bolts

I just put in and after about

I just put in and after about 1 hr of "No Wake" I ran my 454 Crusaders/velvet drive up to 3000RPM. After a couple of minutes I heard a Bang. It sounded like something dropped onto the deck--moved along and heard it again. Then itermittently over the next ten minutes. I investigated and the banging was coming from the transmission. I spoke to a couple of mechanics and they said probably "shear bolt(s)" in the trans. Does this sound right? Never heard of this--how typical is this? Thanks

"Sounds to me like a low fluid condition is causing the internal oil pressure to drop and causing the clutch to disengage under a load. Have you found any fluid in the bilge?

Check the fluid level and condition (looking for metal in oil and burned fluid), clean or replace the filter, check all mounting hardware and try again.

Good luck,
Rick"
