"can I put an alpha 1 gen 1 leg from a 305-350 v8 on a 4.3 v6 if so what problems will this cause ?? I know the gear ratios are different but i'm not sure what the effect will be, any help??? thanks guys"
 
"yes, you can, and the only di

"yes, you can, and the only difference is the ratio. the V8's typically use a 1.5:1R and the V6's use 1.8:1R except newer ones use 1.62:1R
You would need to drop down in pitch say from a 21p to a 17p or maybe a 4 blade 18P. it depends where your WOT RPMs are."

"Brian, thanks I was hopeing that I could swap them I am running a 23p now that was on it when I bought the boat and had planned on going to an 17p, do you think I should go with the 4 blade 18p or will the 17p 3 blade do ok?

"Some marina's will let you try props, I would try a 17p 3 blade first. You can also look into Piranha Propellers, if you dont damage the blades they let you swap out, lifetime warranty on the hub to.. good pricing to.. a little more than aluminum 20-50$ but a LOT less than Stainless.."
