V8 outdrive work on my 4.3l?

melted the gears off after hillbilly mechanic only put one quart of fluid in????
now he's yammering this and that soooo we'll probably have to fix it. need an upper unit...
 
it's my bro in laws so Ummmm it's a gray/smoke out drive with red box on decal with cobra by the hyd lift, the Hurricane deck boat it's on has had the 4.3l motor changed out. Not much help I know..
I'll try to get more info like HIN and outdrive s/n or some thing weds.

I have found a v8 out drive "Cobra" "86 - "90. Will a v8 uppers bolt onto this 4.3l out drive bracket and the original lower if it's ok? I realize the gear ratio may change some.

it should bolt on. Whether you will be able to find a prop that will even get the boat on plane is another story.
probably want to go down 6" in pitch
If you have less than 21P now, going to be a tough prop to find, and an inefficient prop at higher speeds
if you do find one
Best to get the correct ratio.
 
sei now makes stuff for you ,might be the best way to go. Cheapest also.

Or ebay has stuff for you but second hand and used always a chance with that stuff.

Or rebuild what you have. But then you got to have the tools. Sei gives new stuff and unbeatable warranty.

NO i don't own the co. wish i did. Then i would make stringer stuff " SEI YOU GUYS READING THIS !!!!

Thanks for the info sei If they're not a mortgage payment maybe but I'm finding some on marinengine that are 1400 and up woa big fella.

So we'll see
