the senors on the v drive i believe ck the temp seems to be mounted in the curved line on the drive am cking water temp or the oil temp?dors any one what temp sets them off i just got this boat so ill have lots of ?s thanks everone also is a typical wireing dia 28 ft silverton with fly bridge and 5.7 crusaders

I have twin 350s with V-Drives and there are no temperature sensors on my drives.(1993) My engines are raw water cooled and the first place the water goes, is through the V-drive, then to the engine driven water pump. Here is a photo of one of my drives and as you can see there are no sensors on them...however...I did see that when I got the boat there was a GREEN grounding wire going to one of the bolts on the V-Drive.

I guess you must have a different set-up as far as Vdrives and transmissions go ???

i should have stated these are 1976 i believe their walter drives threre is a red light warning light on the instrument panel for each eng and the sensors are grounded to the green wire on the drive and the raw water is going there frist thanks

thanks for the info that settles the v drives i have been looking for a wireing dia for 1976 silverton fly bridge with crusaders. on the port eng with just the key on there seems to be and a warning buzzer goining off when eng runs buzzer stops no buzzer going on with the starboard eng.i know the mercrusier set up with the temp sender for over heating but these engs only have one sender for the temp gauge thanks

I have the buzzers as well but my buzzers indicate that the engine is not running. The buzzer comes on as soon as I turn the key "on" but stop as soon as the engine starts. I'm not really sure if they buzz for an overtemp...something I should look into (manuals are in the boat which is on the 'hard' and fully winterized)but if one did start to buzz the first thing I would assume is that the engine quit.......if it was running I would then shut it down.

Two Crusader 350s (1993), and two buzzers, one for each engine but as far as I know NOW...they only indicate if the motor is running or not.

That's usually the low engine oil pressure buzzer. You can temporarily disconnect it to see if another one is going off on you.

That's the problem with the older warning systems (like mine): it tells you something is wrong, but not What or WHERE. Computerized systems do have an advantage here (I am forced to admit).

Walters V-drives use an oil pressure light.

As far as the engine warning buzzers go, most use switches (in parallel) to activate the buzzer. No buzz with the key on is the buzzer or the oil pressure switch not closing like jeff suggested. The other commonly used switches in the buzzer loop are engine coolant and gear temp. Again, these are separate switches and not sending units.
