I have a 1987 3.7 Merc w/ an alpha one outdirve. I noticed on the upper housing under one of the Mercruser decals there was a plug missing. I beleive they are called the pipe plug and welch plug. They might have come off during recent water pump service. Is this a difficult job to replace myself? If water got in there can it harm anything? When running on earmuffs there appears to be NO preasure build up from opening. I want to make sure I don't jepordize the OD by just replacing plug.
