Upper Crank Seal 1961 15 hp

Seeing as how the special tool tool for removing the upper crank seal in my 1961 15HP Gale is no longer available,I was wondering if any one has ever removed this seal any other way other than dismantling the powerhead. Thanks

When all else fails in finding the proper special tool, I have on occasion taken a thin blade regular screwdriver and carefully jammed it between the crankshaft and under the seal, then pried it up and out.
