Upgrade from Bravo 2 to Bravo 3?

I have a 1993 24 foot SeaRay Overnighter that the outdrive went out on last year and I am looking to replace it. I am looking at a Bravo 2 that needs to be assembled or Bravo 3 that is ready to go. Both have a 2:1 ratio, same as my current outdrive. The Bravo 3 has 48-823661 and 48-823662 20P props.

3 questions.

Will this Bravo 3 bolt right up to my 93 Bravo 2 Transom Assembly?

Will the 48-823661 and 48-823662 20P props be a good fit for my 1993 24 foot SeaRay Overnighter (4300 lbs) with 7.4l Mercruiser?

Will the Bravo 3 be an upgrade to the Bravo 2 as far as resale?

thanks

I cannot answer if its a direct swap but I believe so.

The two drives are very different.
Bravo 2 uses a very large prop wich is a big plus for overweight and under powered boats.

I dont know what the differences will be but the prop dia and pitch for the bravo 3 will need to be figured out and if a change is needed that X 2 the cost and they are only sold in matched pairs....

Maybe someone with more bravo experience can chime in on possible performance differences both from a hole shot to wot.

mainly worried about the suitability of those props. If I have to buy new props it kills the deal. I'll just rebuild the Bravo 2 and use my old prop.

I would suggest contacting Searay and ask them what your boat configuration with Bravo 3 would need for props.

I pedsonally have no experience with Bravo 3 prop size/pitch reccomendations.

My biggest concern would be as I mentioned, Hole shot and over all performance.

There is a reason it has a Bravo 2....
Bravo 2 is not a common drive used on pleasure boats.

if I am correct, in '93, there was no Bravo 3. The bravo 1 was for speed and smaller boats. I think this Sea Ray was just too big for a Bravo 1. I guess I need to check with Sea Ray.

The Bravo 1 is not to small. It can handle 500hp.

When I worked in the business, we had a 24 cuddy chaparel with a 5.0 and a Alpha 1.
The boat would not get out of its own way.
This was around 1994-95.

Chaparel was called and they reccommended a 5.7 mag and the Bravo 2.

The boat was set up as a low price entry boat from the factory.

We did the whole swap and that boat litteraly popped out of the water and cruised exceptionally well.

I am not on my pc so I can look up when Bravo 3 was first used so I cant speak to that.

You never posted what engine you have.

If your running a 305 or a 350 that may be why it has a Beavo 2.

I dont believe the 3 will match the tbrust of a 2. Two props i believe add stability but not neccessarily thrust

7.4l Mercruiser. '93 was the first year of the B3.

anyway, it looks like the B3 will bolt right up to my Transom Assembly and be an upgrade.

do you think 20P props will push my 24 foot SeaRay Overnighter (4300 lbs) with 7.4l Mercruiser?

That I cant answer, Some others here may have a better understansding of B3 props.

Keep in mind, The B3 props are no way as large as the B2.
