Unburnt fuel 318

I put a brand new edlebrock carb on my 78 318 and when i start it up there is alot of unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. is there something stuck in the carb? also when i bump the gas after it has ben runing for about 15 - 20 minutes it stumbles where my other motor is fine and revs right up. yes i did adjust the fuel air mixsture properly. After a day running i use about 15 gallons more than the other motor. any ideas thanks.

run it out of gas, tap it lightly with small block of wood on both sides, once its out of fuel refill it with a quick pump with a outboard primer bulb and try to time it so the most gas enters in on the pump of the bulb

OR

Take the top screws off and do a mounted minor rebuild cleaning

Did you hook up the automatic electric choke, and is it opening the choke properly? IF so, and IF the idle mixture jets are adjusting properly (meaning the motor dies if you screw them all the way in) but it keeps running when you screw the idle mixture screws all the way in, then it's flooding.

I ran the carb out of fuel and tapped it then filled it back up i think it took care of the problem i cant see the fuel coming out of the exhaust anymore. Now i have a question about my props and my boats performance. I have a 31 ft pacemaker sf. twin 78 318s with borg warner 1.0:1. the boat weighs 12,500 lbs 31 ft. long and my props are 14 x 11 i told one of the mechanics at the marina that i had 14 x 11 props he said for my boat it was severley under propped. at 2500 rpm i am seeing 12.5 mph and at 3000 rpm i am seeing 15.5 mph. what do you guys think under proped or not he said my boat should cruise at 18-19 mph. top end around 24-25 mph.

Thats an old greasemonkey trick right there!!!!:):)

Now, the props

I got the same engines 78 circa velvet dirve 1:1, Walter V-drive 2.05:1

31' silverton

weighing in at 11,400 dry wieght

Im propped at 18X19 4blade props

The best I ever had it was 2800 on both sides cruising 21,22knots(freshly cleaned bottom) in the slick 18/19 in the chop, sagging motor mounts and poorly running motors

I also have no idea what is right for me but it says 18x20(3 blade) federal mogul in the book should get me around 4000,

Now this is a Vdrive boat so this could mean nothing to you if your 1:1
