What type of ignition system i

What type of ignition system is on the 87' 35hp mercury?

Is it the "thunderbolt"?

Should I be using a CDI Resistor type plug?

I just pulled the existing plugs and they don't seem to be the correct match for this engine.

None of my manuals covers your

None of my manuals covers your motor but the plugs should be NGK BUHW. You do not gap this type plug.

An 87 will have Merc's Thu

An 87 will have Merc's Thunderbolt 4 ignition - probably the best ignition ever produced for small outboards...
