Twin BF150's wont start when cold

Hi Folks,
I have trouble starting my 150's when its cold. They crank over just fine but wont fire. They eventually start and run as normal but only after repeated attempts. This morning was in the low to mid 40's here. They are new (2009 w/100 hrs). I'm still under warranty but would like to know details if anyone can help.

Thanks

Perhaps there is a problem with your starting " procedure "---------------------Explain how you try and start these units.-----------------I can not imagine 2 of these motors on the same boat " not starting "

Very unlike 150's...also very unusual that both are having the same problem. As the temperature gets colder, the engines may need a little more cranking to start, but only like a couple of tries compared to what you are experiencing. Please do not take offense, but check to be sure you are doing the following during starting.

Make sure the squeeze bulbs are hard and are positioned pointing up or at least in an upway angle (rigging issue). Usually this is not needed if you are using the motor regularly. If the squeeze bulb is not positioned correctly and the check valve is not stopping fuel backflow, you could be syphoning fuel out of your vapor separator back into your tank. This also assumes that your antisyphon valve on the tank is not working. I know there are a lot of ifs here.

When you turn the key, wait for the full two seconds or so that the lights come on and the beep beeps....the high pressure fuel pumps are pressurizing the fuel system.

Make sure the shifters are in neutral and throttle not advanced.

If the above does not help, then a call to your dealer is in order.

Racerone,
Thanks for responding. My startup procedure is the same as when its warm. Usually I just turn the key to on, wait a few seconds and start them up. Usually they fire instantly. Should I be doing something different?

Thanks

Thanks Hondadude. I'm doing exactly what you outlined. I use the boat regularly so priming should not be an issue, but i'll check. Didnt know about upwards facing primer bulb and i dont think i have an antisiphon valve on my tanks. thanks.
