Trouble with new fuel lines/quick disconnect

Trouble with new, slightly larger fuel lines (1/4” to 3/8”). Boat starts if primed, runs for 30 seconds then dies. When priming fuel with hand pump fuel squirts out of connection to fuel pump. I think the pump isn’t getting sufficient suction. Any way to get a good seal on fuel pump, or do I need to switch back to 1/4” lines?

What engine is this? 5/16" fuel line is used on smaller HP engines, up to 70HP I think, and then 3/8" fuel line is on the larger engines. If you're trying to squeeze down 3/8 onto a 5/16 fitting, then yes you're going to have sealing issues and leaks.

It’s the e6rccs (6hp). I purchased a 3/8” to 1/4” brass barbed adapter. The hose that was on there is 1/4”.

So I’m going to reduce to the 1/4 hose then connect that to the engine.
