trouble starting

I have a 15hp 1989 evinrude will only start with starting fluid after starting runs great sprayed gas in intake starts up cant figure it out can anyone help

Check compression with guage; check spark with open air tester will it jump a 7/16" gap with a blue spark. Carb probably needs a good cleaning and a repair kit installed. Don't use starting fluid because there is no oil in it and will damage engine only use gas mixed 50:1. Good luck

Clean the carb and check the plugs

Did a rebuild compression test,changed plugs has spark, spray gas in intake starts right off

Did you say you rebuilt the carb or did a rebuild compression test? It sounds like either your choke is not working or the main jet is restricted (needs to be cleaned)
