Trouble after rebuild

Thought it was time for an update. I polished the journals and re assembled the engine with new bearings just to be sure. Engine refitted back in boat. This all went without a hitch and river trials went ahead. It ran very well all things considering.
A few more problems popped up

1. water dripping out the end of the shift cable
2. Steering hose had a leak so lost power steering
3. Tachometer ran for a while then froze at 3 grand

1. Have started a new thread on this issue
2. Replaced the steering hose -'fixed
3. Cleaned and tightened the connections on the back of the tacho - fixed

With regards to the tach

It is not uncommon for older or unused tachs to exhibit issues unrelated to engine.

There is a setting (rotary) switch on the back to allow for use with 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines.

Sometimes switching it back and forth between ranges will "reset" the tach to correct rpms.
