88 Evinrude All I get when try

88 Evinrude All I get when trying to go up or down is a click at the relays. Put new relays on & switch is good. I can straight wire it direct & it works great. What could be the problem?

"If you're straight wiring

"If you're straight wiring the PTT electric motor direct from the battery, I'd suspect one of the following.

1 - You have a dirty or loose connection leading from the battery to the Relay Box.

2 - You have a broken or faulty connection leading from the Relay Box to the PTT electric motor connector.

3 - An extreme amount of corrosion exists at the PTT electric motor connector.

Any of the above results in a voltage drop which will cause the PTT motor to malfunction."

Thanks for the info. I cleaned all the wiring and the trim works great.
