trim up and down

U have a 1981 sea ray went out this weekend and couldn't get the unit to trim it was making the noise like it was working but wasn't moving it will trim down I checked the oil level and checked for air in the lines and all checked out good

trim limiter switch is likely kaput. If the trim down button works, but not the Up button, yet the trailer + up button DOES WORK, then the limit switch (which controls the outdrive from raising too far while underway) has failed. Common problem.
