"1987 mercury 175 HP hung on a ranger bass boat.
Trim unit went bad. All works except it dose not hold trim postion when on plane. Every mile or so I have to trim back up.
I attempted to rebuild the cylinders, the 2 smaller ones on the outside. changed the orings and seals. Did nothing to the larger cylinder in the center.
same problem.
so on a shelf the unit sits as I installed a rough looking used unit that is working perfect for now.
How can I repair the orginal unit?
