Trim/tilt switch replacement on throttle

Greetings,

I'm trying to replace the trim/tilt switch on the throttle of my Evinrude 70 (1990). I have removed the control box and loosened the hex nut 3 turns as directed in the manual. I have tried tapping the nut with a hammer to loosen the handle but it won't budge. Any suggestions for removing the handle?

I assume that you have removed the allen screw that retains the handle.

Now, find a long 1/4x20 threaded bolt and screw that into the handle until it bottoms out... belt the head of that bolt with your hammer....... There'ya go!

Thanks for the help, I got the handle off. Turns out the switch is fine, there is a small bracket which holds the switch in place which is broken. I will try drilling a little deeper into the handle and try a slightly longer screw, if not purchase a new handle.
