I just have replaced the trim sensor Volvo ref. 3858212 on my boats drive and is not working properly. First of all it is really difficult to get it adjusted at -5. Second if I leave the drive, lets say at -2 and start the engine, when I use the trim the indicator will not move and show all the time -2.
Do I have fitted the correct part ?
If not any ideas on what can be the problem ?
I will really appreciate any help and advise.

I have replaced several on my DP-SM drive. They don't hold up in the saltwater. My setup uses #9 trimmer. Which is just a pointer. It does jump around from time to time. You might try cleaning the connectors and making sure the pins are seated correctly in the plug. If not seated correctly they could push back when you connect the male end of the plug.
