"Hey I was thinking of doing the same thing that Peter Simpson had said he did on his boat, cut the wires then solder, apply silicone and heat shrink.
But when I was going to buy the sensor the guy said that the new one can't be cut because it will ruin it. I have a 2003 DPS out drive, is it true or is he pulling my leg."

"My experience is the sender rarely goes bad but the wires do break inside of the insulation, usually between the sender and the transom plug. I just cut and spliced new wires to replace 2 of the 3 wires broken and corroded on my '00 DPS. Cleaning the corrosion and getting the wires to take solder was difficult. So far everything is working fine."
