"I have a 90hp mercury o/b. Won't trim at full throttle so I can plane the boat, however at low speed or stop position, it will trim. I don't know where to look for or how to check the fluid level or even if this is my problem. Anyone got an idea? I is a 2004. thanks"

"Hi there,

When you open the throttle, you are pushing up to 90 horses there, the small trim motor will not, easily, lift the bow. It should be able to trim the bow down as the motor's power will naturally assist the trim motor.

It's not a good idea to trim the bow up when under throttle as the trim motor cannot fight those 90 ponies.

Then seals could be shot in the trim pump, poor electrical connectivity [read: voltage drop] in trim loom, open release valve as Jamie suggested?

Does motor sag when trimmed up on the trailer? If so, it's a pump issue. Seals, release screw loose or low oil.

Happy boating!

We've hit 0' celcius here today... And it's almost 10 AM...

So, in short, it'll take some trial and error as to where you want to trim the motor before taking off and tuck her in as she starts to plane."
