Trim Down just Clicks

I'm trying to troubleshoot a trim issue with my 2001 Bayliner 195 we just purchased. I cannot lower the drive, it just clicks. I removed the positive cable from the Solenoid and touched it to the Green and it started to go down. I figured it was just a bad solenoid and purchased another however I'm still getting the same results, a click but it will not lower the drive. Again if I bypass the solenoid it'll go down. Trim up and Trailer work just fine.

I kept seeing lost of posts for a troubleshooting PDF named 97hs6.pdf on boatfix but the link is dead. If anyone knows where this document can be found it would be greatly appreciated.

First, jump from small green wire on solenoid to red on top of solenoid.
This will confirm solenoid is working correctly or not- if it only clicks.

If it works correctly, look for small black 3 prong connector at base of pump assembly.
disconnect and inspect. If ok plug back in and recheck if throttle handle trim switch works.

Also confirm ground connection at trim pump base is good and clean and tight.

Jumping from the Small green wire to the red on top still only produces a click. So I'm guessing that's a sign of a bad Solenoid? I have ordered a replacement and will send this "new" one back.

Yes thats what it represents.
Try the same with the up solenoid and confirm you did it correctly and if the up works try again on the down.

Also make sure the ring terminals on the large red and the large green are clean.
Sometimes they are coated in black paint creep.

I should have mentioned I jump to the up one to test it and it activated the pump. If I jump directly to the large green wire it'll go down, Just my luck I would get a bad solenoid to make me second guess myself. I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out, but once I replaced and had the same issues I figured I had to ask others for assistance. It was getting late and I was tired and "Hangry" and didn't even think to test the new solenoid. Thanks again.

Just an update to close out the thread. I received the 2nd replacement Solenoid and it works perfect now. Moral of the story, just because it's new in box doesn't mean it works. If you trace an issue to a part and replace said part and still have the same issue then test the part.
