Hello....I have a 91 Rinker wi

Hello....I have a 91 Rinker with a 4.3----what could be wrong with the trim when the button will make it go down but it won't go up on the back of the motor? worst case scenario?

Look Inside the transom,+ find them, There's a set of Bullet Connectors there,....
just By-pass it,+ It'll Work.....
But,.......
It'll go All the way Up, instead of Stopping at the Trim Limit....."
 
Could be the switch or solenoi

Could be the switch or solenoid at first guess.

You will need a multimeter to check. Or take pot luck and replace them and see.

For something like this you could call a marine electrician for a quick fix.

Will the OD go up using the trailering button? If it does go up, the problem is most likely in the trim switch wiring. A broken solder joint in the harness of the shift lever is what I have found twice.

There is a plastic folding connector that holds four double female ended pins that the trim switch connects to one side and the harness to the trim motor connects to the other side. Pull on the wires to see which end is broken or loose. Solder with rosin core solder and flux the joint first for a good connection.

If you have a pad type switch, use a jumper to bypass the switch to see if it goes up. Been there and done that. Guy"
