How do i test the trickle char

How do i test the trickle charge on a 1989-90 60 hp Mercury outboard and what gives off this trickle charge

"You don't have a trickle

"You don't have a trickle charger unless someone has installed one. It would be plugged into an AC outlet. You do have a stator which feeds a rectifier which charges the battery. To test it check the voltage at the battery with the motor not running, then check it again with the motor running and if it is working you will see an increase in voltage. It should be somewhere around 14VDC if working."
