"Hi All,
I'm going to be sandblasting my badly neglected transom shield soon. I need advice on finishing it. I'm thinking about using Alumaprep cleaner followed by Alodine and then priming and painting or going with Pettit 6455 metal primer which is a wash prep. or poss. going with Interlux 353/354 vinylwash primer before priming? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Jon"

"I sandblasted my TS, cleaned it, primed it with zinc chromate then hit it with a can of Rustoleum. Has held up fine and was cheap to do. Your method sounds much better. You should be fine."
