"I am installing a new transom

"I am installing a new transom boot on my Skipjack. What if any is a good sealant to keep out any potential leaks. It has a thin plate that goes over the edge of the boot and screws to the transom. Also I would like to know how to freshen up a fiberglass hull. Mine is light blue and I have a few battle scars and grundgy film that makes the hull look like crap. Fibre glass is good, need to brighten color and put a wax or whaterever will protect it. Would rubbing compound with a buffer do what I want. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have learned alot through this forum and appreciate the fine folks who take the time to help others. Island Boy"

I have used the grey Permatex

I have used the grey Permatex and it sealed fine. I put 2 part epoxy on my screws going back in.

Have used some kits for de-oxidizing gel coat. Available at any boating store. They work ok in the short term. The haze comes back in a year or two.
