"I have a 440 Chrysler and transmission in a classic boat. The unit works great, recently I have done some upgrades on the motor, new pistons, intake manifold, heads, carb, cam shaft etc. We converted the camshaft from the gear driven set up to a conventional chain and gear setup. The engine has been run on the test stand and works great. There are no tags on the engine or transmission, the gear box is a 1:1 unit and has been working fine. My question is what type of transmission do they run behind the big block Chryslers and how tough are they as I am running considerably more HP than stock. If it matters the unit is a 1970-1971 vintage, I also converted from raw water cooling to fresh water and removed the cast iron front cover and replaced it with a lighter aluminum cover and installed an aluminum water pump setup. Again any info on transmission type and model would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
