Transmission leaking fluid?

I have 270 Crusaders with Borg Warner Velvet Drives. Port side trans leaks trans fluid, but not at the tail shaft seal. Where could fluid be comming from? In a 5hr run it will leak almost a pint.

Oil cooler? I assume you can't locate the leak?

PS: One of mine uses about half that amount. Long as I keep an eye on it, all is well.

Input shaft, output shaft, breather, oil cooler lines and fittings. That's about the popular options that dump into the bilge. If not in the bilge, it's the oil cooler, if you have one.

Head on over to a NAPA store or your local auto parts store and get tracer dye and add it to the trans, run the boat then use a black light and you will see exactly where it is leaking.
