Trans studs... moving to different holes

The two studs are located at the bottom. Because of the angle, it woud be a whole lot easier if they were on the top instead. Do you guys see any issue with switching them to a different position? I need to check the bellhousing to see if the internal threads are all the same depth but can't see why it would matter.

Bob, there may be a reason why the two lowers are studs, rather than bolts in an aluminum flywheel cover.
Studs are locked in place prior to torquing the nuts down.
Whereas bolts rely on the aluminum female threads for the torque value.
Studs will always outperform bolts.

That being said..... I doubt that you'd have an issue.

No problem moving them if you want to...both of my gears are retained with just the bolts (grade 5) and lockwashers...Studs make the reinstallation so much easier...

ok, I'll see if I can shift them up which will make a whole lot easier because of the angle. It's surprising how strong that bell housing needs to be to support both the weight and torque. Sure wish they made the trans housing out of aluminum and the bell housing out of cast iron instead ;)
