1988 Alpha one #0B803692...
On page 3B-8 – MR/ALPHA ONE/ALPHA ONE SS of Merc Manual #6 is the exploded view of the Gear housing... It has the torque reading and Lube and adhesive listings, however it does not show where to apply any of them... Does anyone know this?

Also Gasket #22 shows 2 water passages and the one I took out of mine only has 1...

Thank you for your time and help, Eddie

3B-20 has what you describe.your looking at a early R diagram. MR,Alpha drive is what you should have.
3B-20 shows water pump dis-assembly... 3B-8 shows the exploded view... Am I looking at the wrong manual? I have #6 which shows it covers Alpha one serial numbers 0A471375 and above, mine is 0B803692... Thank you...

The manual is correct . Your mention the gasket in the wp kit as having 1 hole, they are used on the MR,Alpha1 pumps. What you removed is a base gasket for a Series1,R type drive. You may have a older lower on the Alpha upper.
Is there a pin at the top of the lower driveshaft
When you removed the base was the plastic part flat MR,Alpha)with seals or somewhat concave(Series1 , R) with seals.

No, I do not have the preload pin on the lower drive shaft... The base was flat... I guess the previous owner could have installed the wrong gasket, maybe that was the cause of overheat and impeller failure... Thank you again, Eddie...

most likely, a variety of gaskets are included in the kit to fit I/O`s and the larger Merc outboards. You do need the proper gasket with the base or you will have a air sucking problem.
