First I like to say I'm new to Mercury Outboards. Just repowered my boat with a 2001 200Hp optimal that came with the controls. I had to buy the shift cables and after installation the throttle works perfectly but I do no get enough movement to engage the shifter at the engine. When I shift into forward or reverse the cable only moves about 3/4 of an inch. I figure for it to work correctly I need the shift cable to move about 1 1/2 inches. Is this correct? Ive tried adjusting the cable according to the manual but still no go. I was wondering if the cable is installed correctly at the Control Box. I've included a picture to show how I did it. In advance I would like to thank everyone that can help.
