Too Much Oil

"Bought a used boat with a hal

"Bought a used boat with a half tank of fuel, 8 gal.Fuel looks very Dark and motor (97 Evinrude 90) smokes quite a bit running on the trailer with a muff and garden hose. Can I safely run at slow speeds with added Fuel only assuming Too much oil with current 8 gal? or, How can I varify too much oil? Thanks, John Gondek"

"start with a fresh tank,at 50:1 mix thats 16 oz
oil 6 gal gas. only way to make sure that it is right is if you do it your self.
remember too much oil wont kill an engine,not enough will....."

"Yep fresh fuel is the way forward. I dont like the description of "looks very dark" it could be old, contaminated, mixed with the wrong oil etc etc."
