M40C Had carb problems when w

M40C Had carb problems when we bought it and I ended up changing the carb to a new one. Ran fine. Then it seemed to get fouled or something and it now floods like crazy when I try to run it up and it has no top end power just like the original carb. I cleaned the carb and put an inline fuel filter on it and it ran fine for a day then problem recurred. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Jones.... Although your engine is not my line of expertise, the problem is a common one. If your carburetor will at times act normally and not flood even when pressure is applied to the fuel primer bulb, the problem is usually contributed to a fuel line between the filter and the carburetor.

The interior of the fuel hose starts to deteriorate and small flecks flow through the hose to the carb which become jammed within the float needle valve. The solution being to clean the carburetor and install a new hose.

This may not be the cause of your problem but it's worth looking into.
