Tohatsu M40C 2 cylinder

Hello,

I have an old blue Tohatsu M40C 361A outboard that I feel is perfect for my boat. I've had the engine for 10 year but the boat has been sitting for 5 years.

I started the engine but it was leaking fuel from the carburetor. I was thinking about cleaning the carb but was wondering should I replace some parts and are there even parts available for this? I can find online plenty of parts for Tohatsu M40C and the japanese website has everything but that is for M40C from the 2000s with 3 cylinders I believe.

Any suggestions on what maintenance I should do? I was thinking about replacing the carb but no idea if it is worth the price and effort + if I can get new parts.

Hello,

Thank you.

Would you happen to know do the 2000s M40C parts in general fit my 1990 M40C with 2 cylinders.

My gas pump was also leaking so I was thinking about replacing that as well.

I see imex sells carburetor assy which I believe is the full carburetor. I'm thinking that would be easier to just replace and I wouldn't have to think about the adjustment screws. Of course it costs more but easier and saves time.
