I purchased a new Tohatsu BFT250D in December of 2020 that included a 5 year limited warranty. About a month ago it experienced a catastrophic engine problem. A hole developed in the engine block due to corrosion. The Manufacturer has refused to honor their warranty. The following reason was given to me via an email from a company representative in the warranty department : "Normal cosmetic deterioration." This statement was taken from Tohatsu (PDF) publication OB No. 003-41004-8 BX1 "Limited Warranty Information" on page 3 "What is not covered" in section C paragraph vi. How can a hole develop in the engine block of a three and a half year old motor be considered "Normal Cosmetic Deterioration ?"

No surprise to me on the attitude of modern corporations .----There are reported issues with quality of aluminum used in manufacturing by some companies.
